It's Friday

Can You smell Friday?

I tell ya . . . It's Friday!!!

I can smell it. . . . the weekend's getting closer!!!

Keep going . . it's nearly the weekend

Put your hands in da air and wave 'em like you just don't care. . . . cause
IT'S FRIDAY!

It's time to do the Friday dance
Have a great weekend!
My friend, who is a primary school teacher, sent this to me. I think teachers' are very underpaid. I question their sanity at times. But my friend teaches kids because they love it and they're fantastic at what they do. I asked them if they had any favorites in the class, aparently your not supposed to have favorites. I wish someone told the teachers at my school that, well at least all the ones who didn't have me on their 'Top 5 list.'

Some Websites

Georgie Wharton's website. I've met her. She is a fantastic artist. Check out the begining of what I predict to be an international phenomenon: www.hotcards.com.au

Oh this shop is fantastic. I can't go very often as it is addictive. Cait and Tori, this is a must for your Mum: www.zettaflorence.com.au/ . Well actually the shop is fantastic but the website is pitched at a different audience...they have the most beautiful and delightful cards, stationary, wrapping paper, magnets....but that discription just doesn't give it justice! Oh dear. It's in Brunswick Street. It's a must do in Melbourne.

something unequivocal

and of course equivocal....

Ahh Coffee

Today I couldn't make it to sample Canada's favorite with some of my favorites, at the Law School. I haven't got onto Brendan, however, Louise reported that it was busy, slow to get going but seemed to be good. This is one huge thankyou to Louise, all the way from Melbourne, for helping out as I couldn't be there. She also said that the Jessup Team were a big help. Rachel offered to help clean up and Alex was also going to help out too. So to all of you, thankyou!

Thanks also to
Brendan whose makes the whole thing a lot easier and probably possible. I hope whoever said those stupid things about him has now got his dose of Kama for the week. Also apologies to those who I asked to help with the Morning Tea but were not thanked by a person at Bond who said thanks only to the LSA and Brendan. Unforutnately, it seems that lately there are a lot of blinkers on around Bond. So I will just say thankyou very much to everyone.

While you were having Tim Hortons, I was drinking this coffee, well about to. Sorry to make people who like a good italian drop jealous. Some beans from the establishement where this coffee was made are heading to the coast! Hopefully we can use them when the Tim Hortons runs out. Otherwise, guess what you'll all be getting for Christmas.

The 21st on the 21st - The Baby Brother

21 years ago around this time of year my Mother was feeling very large. I was probably anxious because my Mum was going to Hospital and I would be stuck with Dad doing my hair. She'd already had a few months in hospital as the kid was causing her problems. I didn't find this fun, I think my locks in the school photo from that year are refelctive of his inability to master the art of the compulsory up do (for students who had hair that sat below the collar.) There was a precise way Mum did it. The ponytail was not too high, not too low and there were no bumps. Dad was probably worried that I had said, if Mum had a baby boy we should throw it in the river, because we only wanted girls.
On the 8th of November, after finishing school for the day (approximately 6ish if my memory is correct) Gran, Grandpa, Sarah and I excitedly jumped in the little red car and made a mad dash for the hospital to see Mr James Leonard Donald Anderson a recently arrival. We stopped off at the Freemasons Hospital to pick up a gift for the new born. I chose a small grey elephant and my sister selected a blue hippo. Once at the hospital, I don't know if we were terribly impressed (see here.)
Obviously I changed my mind about putting the baby in the river. The story goes that bringing James home from hospital (who I had decided should be called Jesus, not James) Mum pulled over at the Yarra River. My response was "Mummy why are we stopping here." Mum: "Well you said if the baby was a boy you wanted to put him in the river, so here you go: put him in the river." A now horrified Emma, "Oh no, I think we'll keep him for a bit and see how he goes." Not sure about the numerous religious references (I think I had started going to Sunday School with the boys up the road.)
We have kept the Kid for nearly 21 years. He would be too big to put in the river now, given Melbourne's water shortage. The posts below are some photos taken on the evening of his 21st Birthday at the Basement Apartment, on the 21st of October 2006.

Not just Another Morning Tea - A Tim Hortons Morning Tea

Another law school morning tea is taking place tomorrow, following on from last weeks success. Remember that it's between 10 and 11.30 and if you can take along your own mug (rather than use some disposable one that will still be around when your great, great, great, great grandchildren here.) If the weather is fine it will be on the lawn outside the law school. Tim Hortons will be present. For all non-Canadians you can read about the Tim Hortons success story here, and directly access the history of Tim Hortons here.
A huge thanks to Louise Tillett who has offered to help out, as I have been stranded in Melbourne! Also to Rachel, Alex, the mysterious Bond Blogger, and Lauren who all made it last week and have offered to show up this week. Thanks so much.
While I won't be there in person, hopefully I'll be there in spirit. I had a great time last week. I got to speak to some lecturers and meet some law students I hadn't come across. There were some delightful French speaking students. A lovely German guy, who patiently waited for coffee, some new Canadians and some Australians who I hadn't spoken to before. Make of the morning tea what you will, but if I was you I'd make something positive out ouf it. Meet some new people - if only to secure some pre-exam study notes!!!

Have fun, sorry I will not be there.
